1943
Origin
Three young chemists from Valencia (Spain) invent a procedure for extracting theobromine, an alkaloid very similar to caffeine which is only found in cocoa beans.
1950
Expansion of the business
Diversification in the manufacturing and marketing of cocoa products: cocoa powder, mass and butter.
1991
Listing on the Madrid Stock Exchange
The company’s shares start trading on the Madrid Stock Exchange. They had previously been trading on the Valencia outcry market since 1978
2000
New production line
Manufacturing of couverture chocolate begins in the Valencia factory.
2002
Founding of Natraceutical
Spin-out of theobromine extraction and functional ingredient activities to the newly-created company Natraceutical. Natra sold its stake in the company in 2014.
2004
Tablets, snacks and chocolates
Natra acquires Zahor, a company with factories in France and Spain and a strong turnover in Europe specialising in tablets, snacks and chocolates, thus shifting its focus to end products for consumers.
2005
Belgian chocolates
Acquisition of Chocolaterie Jacali (Belgium), specialising in Belgian chocolates and pralines.
2007
Spreads
Natra acquires All Crump (Belgium) and sets up a new business unit for spreads.
2012-14
New markets
Growth in USA and Asia. New sales office in China and factory in Canada.
2017-18
Transformation Plan
Customer-centric Transformation Plan to boost growth. New management team.
2021
€20.9M investment to modernise and adapt our factories in Valencia and Malle to the latest technological advances.
2022
Natra achieved the B Corp certification.
Becoming the first non-branded chocolate producer to join the B-Corp Community.
